DEEP STEEP Q&A
Here are some frequently asked questions about
Deep Steep Products. Enjoy!
I've read that Deep
Steep products are FREE of Chemical Preservative. What are Chemical
Preservatives?
In cosmetics
manufacturing, "preservatives" are used to combat the growth of bacteria
and mold. Bacteria and Mold will grow in any product that contains water:
lotions, liquid soaps, body washes, cleansers, etc. So in essence, just about
any product you put on your body has the chance of growing bacteria and mold
unless it is "preserved."
Unfortunately, chemical preservatives (hundreds of them) are used
frequently in personal care products because they are easy to obtain, cost very
little, and, until recently, no one questioned their prolific use.
Synthetic preservatives are considered by leading dermatological
associations to be the number one cause of contact dermatitis (Contact
dermatitis is a localized rash or irritation of the skin caused by contact with
a foreign substance). Additionally, several commonly used chemical preservatives
have been scientifically linked to breast cancer and other adverse conditions of
the skin and body.
Are synthetic chemical
preservatives necessary?
No! Over 25 years
of research Deep Steep's chemists have developed the technology to create a 100%
NATURAL preservative system that omits all synthetic ingredients. Using this
system, ALL of our products pass standardized microbial challenge tests
for killing bacteria and mold, honor all FDA standards, and are
guaranteed a healthy 2-year shelf life.
What makes their
bubble bath so bubbly?
Those silky bubbles are
generated by a natural, vegetable-based ingredient called Cocamidopropyl
betaine.
Cocamidopropyl betaine is a derivate of cocamide and betaine. Cocamide is a
mixture of the amides of the fatty acids (essential fatty acids lubricate the
body and aid in the transportation of oxygen to the cell) obtained from coconut
oil. Betaine is a nutrient that plays an important role in the health of the
cardiovascular system. Studies have suggested that betaine, along with other
nutrients like vitamins B6 and B12, helps to keep blood vessels clear of toxic
elements.
What's that floating in the handwash?
The particles you may see
in the handwash are actual herbs that have come out of solution in the
production process. They are perfectly harmless, and actually show just how
natural their products are!
What is the moisture
stick good for?
This moisture stick is
great for the lips, feet, knuckles, and elbows…or anywhere that needs a little
extra long-lasting moisture. Going back to the difference between this and
petroleum products, this product will NOT clog your pores, so if you have really
dry skin around your mouth, or your chin, like we sometimes get in the dry
winter, or when we have sunburns, you can apply it freely and guilt-free.
