What does Vital Food Factor mean? Without food, a supplement is not nutritious. Food has intelligence, the ability to know what to do with the nutrients it carries. These are called Vital Food Factors. One factor is known as a Protein Chaperone. In 1999 it was discovered that each protein (chaperone) carries in its structure the information (intelligence) needed to specify its proper location in the cell. You could say they act as zip codes or addresses. Supplements without these would require you to eat with each supplement taken.
What is Full Color Food Spectrum mean? It means that your getting foods from all the variety of colors in the garden, the greens, yellows, reds, purples, etc. So often supplements neglect these phytonutrients and our diets certainly do not get enough of them.
Is this product cold pressed? MegaFood uses Cold Fusion. Keeping the food cold is at the forefront of everything they do. No expense was spared to create this cold fusion process. This process involves using fresh frozen fruits, vegetables and Live yeast in the creation of their products to preserve their nutritive value. They want Fresh Food that maintains its cellular life force. Cold Fusion suspends and maintains the cellular life force, prevents thermal deterioration and bacterial contamination. All the foods are kept frozen until the final stages of nutrient transformation.
Do you need to eat with MegaFood Nutrients like other brands suggest? No. MegaFood is a FoodState Nutrient, so just as if you would eat broccoli, the body knows exactly what to do with the nutrients broccoli contains, your MegaFood supplement will also know. This is a major difference between other brands. You can also chew it. You'll notice the texture is quite different as well than other brands. You can see the food in the supplement.
Can the product go bad quicker? It does have a 2 year shelf life, however just as food spoils and smells bad, you will know if your MegaFood supplement has gone bad because it will spoil just the same.
Should the nutrients be higher than what is provided in a daily serving of Baby& Me DailyFood? Actually whole food is different than what is mostly available on the market. Your getting the entire apple you might say, not just the citric acid, one small percentage of the apple. Your body understands what to do with the food then, and does not require such high doses. See the question below on Marked Whole Foods to further explain.
I noticed that the product is not certified organic, does that mean it is not as pure as organic or does not meet organic standards? Actually Validated does not meet organic standards, it exceeds them. The value of a supplement begins with the handling of the raw material. The finished material is only as Valid as the weakest link in the processing. When dealing with raw materials, especially foods, there are a series of events that must be controlled for the finished product to be the highest quality. No matter what the intent of the finished product, Cold Fusion FoodState, whole food, organic, cultured or food based, the condition and Quality of the raw materials used throughout the process is crucial. Validation Documentation is a measure of the raw material now. True nutritional value should be measured through the support of laboratory analysis and Documented Validation.
What is Marked Whole Foods and Marking To A Maker to Guarantee Whole Food Activity mean? One approach to establishing the quality of raw materials is to set minimum levels of quality through Marker Compounds for each raw material. This process is known as "Marking To A Marker. The markers Validate phytonutrient levels and therefore the quality of the raw materials. Marked To A Maker Validation testing reveals that when a Marker Compound is high in a specific raw material, other phytonutrient compounds in that material measure high as well. When Sulfurophane, Beta Carotene and Vitamin C are at high levels in broccoli, other compounds such as Vitamin A, B Vitamins and Iron will also measure at high levels. Marker Compounds are the best Validation. It's impossible to measure every compound in broccoli to ensure its quality. Broccoli may contain as many as 20,000 individual compounds. No one knows the exact number or all the components that make up any food. Therefore we rely on certain identified marker compounds as a measure of broccolis quality. Marked To A Marker is not perfect. It is the best current method to Validate the quality of raw materials.
MegaFood is the first company, and currently the only company, to offer "Quality Marked" fruits and vegetables in our formulas. Specific marker compounds are used to Validate the Quality of our raw materials. This concept, created a whole new category of supplements, Quality Marked Whole Foods. This was the beginning of an important step for MegaFood, requiring Validation Documents for the foods used in our formulas.
There exists considerable debate and uncertainty as to the definition of Quality in relationship to supplements. There are many tests that can be performed using HPLC, TLC, IR, NMR and other testing methods to Validate supplements. This testing is expensive; therefore, validation is not routinely performed. MegaFood believes that it is crucial to the future of the Health Food Business to Validate the Quality of our supplements.
We can objectively measure the value of supplements and assure they are the highest Quality through analysis of the finished product. The material must pass a test that proves nutrient activity at the tableted or encapsulated stage.
